The new regulations (EU) 2019/947 on the rules and procedures for the operation of unmanned aircraft and (EU) 2019/945 of 12 March 2019 on unmanned aircraft systems and on third-country operators of unmanned aircraft systems, effective as of January 2021, actually have not changed the already established procedures for UAS operations in Zagreb FIR within the AMC Portal and the associated mobile application (the AMC Portal System).

The system we have in place, the AMC Portal System, and implemented procedures are fully compliant with all UAS operations. The procedures are designed to meet the requirements for UAS operations in uncontrolled and controlled airspace, including the CTR (control zone). For controlled airspace and controlled zones, additional requirements (technical and procedural) are defined for UAS operations (the Open and Specific categories in the VLOS and BVLOS mode of operation) with a defined air risk buffer, enabling safe manned aircraft operations at the same time. Direct communication and coordination between the UAS operator and the relevant ATC unit has been established through the system together with the awareness of UAS operations for all airspace users in real time.

The new version of the AMC Portal System will be updated with an additional tool for supporting the SORA process for UAS operators in the Open and Specific categories, when and where required.
